Projection, not a prediction. Assumes annual compounding, contributions at the start of each year, DRIP purchases at year-end price, constant growth rates, and no taxes, fees, or dividend cuts. Full model on the methodology page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is dividend income calculated?
Shares held at the start of each year multiplied by that year's dividend per share. If dividend growth is set, the per-share dividend increases once per year at that rate.
What does the reinvest (DRIP) option change?
With DRIP on, each year's dividend income buys additional shares at the year-end share price, so the following year's income is earned on more shares. With it off, income accumulates as cash and share count only changes through contributions.
Are taxes and fees included?
No. Results are pre-tax and ignore trading costs and fund expenses. Depending on your account type and jurisdiction, taxes can materially reduce realized income.
Is this a prediction of what I will earn?
No. It is a projection under the exact assumptions you enter: constant growth rates and no dividend cuts. Real dividends get raised, frozen, and cut; real prices do not grow smoothly.
